pro 17Promotional products are one of the best investments that any business can make because they have a longer lifespan than any other form of advertising that you can invest in. Recent studies have shown that 52% of consumers worldwide who received a promotional product did business with that company. Companies who have bought promotional products in the UK and other parts of the world have found that the key to success with promotional products is choosing products that people will continue to use long after they receive them.

Top Of The Mind Awareness

The key with any form of marketing, especially with promotional products is generating TOMA or Top Of The Mind Awareness with your future consumers. Your goal should be for your consumers to think of you when they need a product or service in your field or industry. Many large and small companies, especially in local areas can benefit from investing in promotional products even if they are just starting business in an area that’s heavily dominated by competition.

Return On Investment

“What’s the return on my investment?” This should be the number one question that any business owner asks when they invest in any form of marketing or advertising. With promotional products you can expect a much better ROI than other forms of advertising like television, radio or even Internet advertising. For example, the average cost per impression for a promotional baseball cap is just 0.002 cents. Compare this to the 0.019 cost per impression of most black and white advertisements in the average national magazine and you will realize that promotional marketing is totally worth your investment.

Remember to pick promotional items that your customers and future consumers will actually use often and don’t hesitate to give those items away frequently because each promotional item that you give away is just like planting an advertising seed that you will plant for your success.

With the Kentucky Derby coming up in May, many people are preparing to place their bets on the world's most popular horse racing event. Thousands of people will come from all over the globe to Kentucky just to see the race and participate in all the traditional events surrounding the race. Also, the amounts of bets made will no doubt be in the millions, whether they are placed at the track or online at one of the many sportsbook sites offering horse racing betting. Placing a bet means being familiar with some betting terms used in the sport of horse racing. Below are some of the more common ones heard at the track.

Betting Lingo

If you overhear someone being called a "bridge jumper" that means they are someone who bets a large amount of cash on one horse to show. That amount could be as high as $100,00 or more. "Bridge jumping" descriptively says that if the person loses, they may end up leaping from the closest bridge! A "daily double" is a bet that calls for the choice of winners of two consecutive races, generally the 1st and 2nd place winners. When someone is "in the money", the horse they picked has won either first, second or third place. A bettor placing a "pick six or more" type of bet means all winners of all the races must be picked by the bettor in order to win. A "superfecta" is a bet in which you must choose the first four horses that finish the race in the exact order they finish. Information that will help fit into the culture of horse racing can be found at about.com.

More Betting Lingo

Betting across the board means that you are betting on a horse to win, place or show--that is, finish in first, second or third place. Wiki states that if the horse wins, the bettor can collect his winnings in these three ways; or if the horse comes in second, two ways. When a race ends in a "dead heat", this means the top two or three horses crossed the finish line so closely together that only a photo of them crossing the line will be able to detect who actually won. Watch out for "touts" who roam the field before a horse race, also. They are individuals saying they have important information regarding the race and offer to sell it it you.

Experiencing a horse race firsthand is a good way to familiarize yourself with betting terminology so you will now exactly what type of bet you are placing. In addition, reading the betting odds in the track magazine will also assist you in the wagering process.

Porche – An Electric Car Pioneer
Posted by Marty in Columbus News on 03 6th, 2011| | No Comments »

bike 3When the name Porche comes to mind any car people think of the one of the most popular and prestigious auto makers in the world whose cars are a symbol of luxury and performance that every car enthusiast has wanted at one time or another. One of the things that’s not known about the Porche name is that the founder Ferdinand Porche was one of the first pioneers of the wheel hub motor.

Lohner-Porche

The historic Lohner-Porche was innovative for its day. The two wheel hub motors on the front wheels of this car had an output of around 2.5 horsepower and generated 120 RPM. The battery could travel about 35 miles between recharges and the car could get up to an average speed of 45 miles per hour. This car appeared at the World’s Fair in 1900 and became what many people thought would be the car of the future...

The First Hybrid Car

Ferdinand Porche was also one of the first pioneers of the hybrid car when he developed an electric wheel hub motor car that got its power from a gasoline driven generator. He called this process “System Mixt” and he set many land speed records in Europe racing this car. Sadly, this hybrid car never gained much interest because car companies realized that gasoline engine powered cars had more power and were easier to use than hybrid cars but they were not as efficient..

In 2011 the Hybrid car and wheel hub motors are needed now more than ever as instability in the Middle East is once again driving up oil prices and creating more of a demand for alternative sources of transportation that are not dependent on fossil fuels. Wheel hub motors are also available for bicycle riders who want to turn their bicycles and enjoy an alternative source of transportation in the city or town that they live in.
